The TWIN-PORT VI project is a four-year project supporting the twin city development of Helsinki and Tallinn, the capitals of Finland and Estonia respectively. The project \u2013 the sixth time the two have collaborated \u2013 will see shore power systems installed at Muuga Harbour in Tallinn and Vuosaari in Helsinki and the creation of a green corridor between the two ports.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough a smooth flow of traffic and modern technical solutions, the Port of Helsinki\u2019s development projects will reduce emissions and improve the efficiency of both passenger and freight transport,\u201d said director Pekka Meronen who is in charge of finance, ICT and development at the Port of Helsinki.<\/p>\n
The approximately 15 million euros in EU support we have now received is important for carrying out our investments. Valdo Kalm, chair of the Port of Tallinn, said the two ports have been collaborating for a decade.<\/p>\n
\u201cGiven the significant maritime traffic between Estonia and Finland, we actively contribute to European connectivity and, through our collaborative efforts, have become a flagship initiative. Our primary objective is to establish a green corridor linking the two ports,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The overall budget of the TWIN PORT VI project is \u20ac30.8 million, with half provided by the EU and half provided by the ports.<\/p>\n
