The port in Sussex has been trialling HVO in its cranes, forklifts and marine vessels for the past year, saving more than 600 tonnes of CO2 emissions.<\/p>\n
To realise the full potential of HVO, however, the port says a consistent and cost-effective supply chain is essential.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are thrilled to partner with Local Fuels in integrating a new HVO supply chain into our port operations,\u201d said Tom Willis, chief executive of Shoreham Port.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis collaboration aligns with our ambitious decarbonisation goals and sets a precedent for sustainable fuel usage across Sussex and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n
Under the deal, Local Fuels is transitioning its entire tanker fleet to HVO and investing in port terminal infrastructure for bulk HVO storage to facilitate large-scale adoption and distribution.<\/p>\n
The company has recently started work on upgrading terminal tanks and pipework and is modifying bunker facilities for the use of HVO in its tankers.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur partnership with Shoreham Port represents a step towards reducing regional emissions and promoting sustainable fuel solutions,\u201d said Anthony Salvidge, managing director of Local Fuels.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are dedicated to supporting this initiative by converting our fleet and enhancing our storage capabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
