The agreement, formalised during the ROG.e energy fair in Rio de Janeiro, secures a large area within the port complex for the facility. The Port of A\u00e7u, one of Brazil\u2019s most significant ports, will provide vital support for the project\u2019s development which is expected to attract significant investment and stimulate the local economy.<\/p>\n

HIF Global is seeking e-fuels development sites around the world that offer a mix of factors, such as affordable renewable energy, abundant CO2 sources, stable legal environments and well-established port facilities.<\/p>\n
The Port of A\u00e7u, located in Rio de Janeiro state, has already secured a preliminary environmental licence for creating a hydrogen and derivatives hub, positioning itself as a key renewable energy hub.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe agreement with HIF Global is a milestone for the Port of A\u00e7u and the region in this new industry,\u201d said Mauro Andrade, executive director of business development at Prumo.<\/p>\n

E-fuels, such as e-methanol, are produced using electrolysers powered by renewable energy to split hydrogen from water. The hydrogen is then combined with recycled CO2 to create carbon-neutral fuels.<\/p>\n
