{"id":4695,"date":"2024-10-03T06:26:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-03T05:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2024\/10\/03\/hydrogen-fuel-cell-grant-for-oakland\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:12:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:12:18","slug":"hydrogen-fuel-cell-grant-for-oakland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/alternative-fuels-greenport\/hydrogen-fuel-cell-grant-for-oakland\/","title":{"rendered":"Hydrogen fuel cell grant for Oakland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The total project cost exceeds US$7 million, marking a significant step in the port\u2019s initiative to achieve zero-emission maritime operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are working non-stop towards achieving the goal of becoming a zero-emissions port,\u201d said Port of Oakland executive director Danny Wan. \u201cOakland is at the forefront of this innovative clean energy technology for the transportation industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Key stakeholders, including the Alameda County Transportation Commission (Alameda CTC) and TraPac, are contributing additional funding, with Alameda CTC committing up to US$2 million.<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to develop and demonstrate two zero-emission fuel cell electric top loaders and a hydrogen wet-hose mobile refueler, enhancing the port\u2019s capabilities for container handling and fuelling hydrogen vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrations will occur over the next four years, filling crucial technology gaps and supporting the decarbonisation of the goods movement industry across US ports.
