The terminal will play a key role in Europe\u2019s clean energy transition by enabling the import of hydrogen from producers in the Middle East, North Africa and the Americas.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith its strategic location and well-established marine infrastructure, Port La-Nouvelle is ideally positioned to become a key entry point for hydrogen and low-carbon fuels,\u201d said Erik Nyheim, president and chief executive of H\u00f6egh Evi.<\/p>\n
Scheduled to begin operating in 2030, the terminal will have the capacity to import up to 210,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually, depending on the readiness of France\u2019s hydrogen pipeline infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The project, in collaboration with European initiatives such as HySoW Hydrogen and gas pipeline operator Ter\u00e9ga, aims to connect Port-La Nouvelle to major hydrogen transport networks, boosting the industrial and energy profile of the Occitanie region.<\/p>\n
This development will also create local jobs as the partners work on feasibility studies and infrastructure design.<\/p>\n
