At an industry event in Antrim, the Maritime Power-to-X consortium, led by B9 Energy Storage, unveiled groundbreaking technology which will enable freight ferries to run on green methanol synthesised from wind-powered green hydrogen and captured carbon.<\/p>\n
\u201cGreen methanol can deliver \u2018true zero\u2019 emissions by closing the carbon loop. This scalable solution has the potential to transform the maritime industry, establish green shipping corridors and help meet net zero goals,\u201d said David Surplus OBE, managing director of B9 Energy Storage.<\/p>\n
Alt fuels partnership<\/strong><\/p>\n Partnering with industry leaders like DFDS, Teesside University and Larne Port, the project explores how alternative fuels can decarbonise shipping.<\/p>\n Mads Bentzen Billes\u00f8, head of innovation & partnerships at DFDS, said, \u201cGreen methanol\u2019s benefits are clear.
