A contract has been signed to reconstruct quays on the Smelt\u0117 peninsula, ensuring smooth assembly, handling and transportation of wind turbines.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe signing of the quays reconstruction contract signals the readiness of Klaip\u0117da Port to take an active part in the development of the offshore wind energy,\u201d said Algis Latakas, CEO of Klaip\u0117da State Seaport Authority.<\/p>\n
\u201dThe reconstruction of quays is not only the infrastructure upgrade, but also a contribution of Klaip\u0117da Port to the new generation energy projects. We are laying the foundations that will allow for offshore wind energy to become a significant part of the country\u2019s energy sector.\u201d<\/p>\n
Quay reconstruction<\/strong><\/p>\n The contract, awarded to UAB Tilsta, involves reconstructing approximately 453 metres of quays at the former International Ferry Port.<\/p>\n These upgrades will enable high-load capacity (40 t\/m2) for handling offshore wind turbine components.
