The system, also&nbsp;supplied by PSW Power &amp; Automation, follows on from last year when Ports of Stockholm inaugurated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/environment-and-sustainability\/stockholm-moves-strides-forward-in-ops-provision\/1496848.article\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sweden\u2019s very first electricity connection for cruise ships<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe inauguration of Sweden\u2019s second onshore power connection for cruise ships is another important milestone for us and for the environment, and we are proud to be able to offer a more climate-smart solution for our shipping customers,\u201d said&nbsp;Jens Holm, chair of the board, Ports of Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt contributes greatly to creating a sustainable premium destination for cruise traffic, both in Stockholm and in the entire Baltic Sea region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>100% green<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the two facilities, Ports of Stockholm can now connect about half of all cruise calls in Stockholm. The electricity used is 100% green and comes from renewable sources such as wind and hydro power.<\/p>\n<p>Ports of Stockholm said it is working actively and long term significantly reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants and reduce noise levels from ships and port operations.<\/p>\n<p>Expanding onshore power access for ships is one of the key measures to achieve this.&nbsp;Much of the ferry traffic in Ports of Stockholm has been connected to onshore power for a long time, cruise was the next step.<\/p>\n<p>Together with three other Baltic Sea ports &#8211; Copenhagen\/Malm\u00f6, Aarhus and Helsinki &#8211; Ports of Stockholm has received EU funding for the investment in onshore power supply at the centrally located quay Stadsg\u00e5rden 160.<\/p>\n<p>Ports of Stockholm rewards shipping customers who implement environmental improvement measures.
