The operation also served as a vital test of coordination across the entire biomethane value chain \u2013 including Terntank, infrastructure provider Nordion Energi and the fuel producers themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn order to accelerate the maritime sector\u2019s transition, it is essential that all actors across the value chain pull in the same direction,\u201d said Therese J\u00e4llbrink, head of renewable energy at the Port of Gothenburg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis bunkering is proof of that cooperation in action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liquefied biomethane, a renewable fuel with growing demand in the shipping industry, is particularly promising due to existing handling infrastructure and its compatibility with green shipping goals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLBG is one of the fuels we\u2019re advancing through green shipping corridors, supporting the shift to fossil-free logistics chains,\u201d added J\u00e4llbrink.<\/p>\n<p>St1 and St1 Biokraft plan to scale up LBG production, with new facilities underway across Sweden.
