{"id":5558,"date":"2025-08-08T09:46:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-08T08:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2025\/08\/08\/shorepower-for-containers-in-scandinavia\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:17:36","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:17:36","slug":"shorepower-for-containers-in-scandinavia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/europe-greenport\/shorepower-for-containers-in-scandinavia\/","title":{"rendered":"Shorepower for containers in Scandinavia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The project marks a major milestone in the port\u2019s ambition to become a fossil-free hub for maritime logistics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecoming the first port in Scandinavia to offer shore power for container vessels is a major milestone in our climate transition,\u201d said Bart Steijaert, chief executive of the Port of Helsingborg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this investment, we are not only meeting future environmental requirements \u2013 we are leading the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The planned facility will have a capacity of 3.5 megawatts, enough to power a feeder container vessel and equivalent to the electricity used by 2,000 homes.<\/p>\n<p>The project is being developed in partnership with Actemium and will enable the port to comply with a 2019 environmental ruling requiring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/searchresults?qkeyword=shorepower\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">shorepower<\/a> by 2026.
