{"id":5788,"date":"2025-10-17T06:15:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T05:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2025\/10\/17\/port-of-rotterdam-launches-ammonia-partnership\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:18:58","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:18:58","slug":"port-of-rotterdam-launches-ammonia-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/alternative-fuels-greenport\/port-of-rotterdam-launches-ammonia-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"Port of Rotterdam launches ammonia partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Under the memorandum of understanding, OCI\u2019s subsidiary, OCI Ammonia Distribution, will lead the sourcing and import of blue and green <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/searchresults?qkeyword=ammonia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ammonia<\/a> from major global hubs including the US, Middle East, North Africa and Asia.<\/p>\n<p>The ammonia will arrive by sea at OCI Terminal Europoort (OTE) \u2013 the port\u2019s only independent large-scale ammonia import terminal \u2013 where it will be stored and distributed for marine fuel use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe port of Rotterdam is preparing for a multi-fuel future to decarbonize global shipping, with ammonia as one of the future fuels,\u201d said Matthijs van Doorn, vice president commercial at Port of Rotterdam Authority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is great to see this strategic partnership develop after the successful ammonia bunkering pilot in April 2025. Such collaborations are instrumental to create safe and sustainable supply chains.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Victrol will design, build and operate a dedicated refrigerated ammonia bunker barge.
