{"id":5813,"date":"2025-10-29T06:24:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T06:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2025\/10\/29\/schneider-urges-europe-to-electrify\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:19:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:19:08","slug":"schneider-urges-europe-to-electrify","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/europe-greenport\/schneider-urges-europe-to-electrify\/","title":{"rendered":"Schneider urges Europe to electrify"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The study, <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.se.com\/ww\/en\/insights\/sustainability\/sustainability-research-institute\/supercharging-electrification-europe-energy-security-competitiveness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Europe energy security and competitiveness \u2013 supercharging electrification<\/em><\/a>, warns that Europe\u2019s electrification rate has stagnated at just 21% for the past decade \u2013 10% behind China \u2013 leaving the continent exposed to high energy prices and fossil fuel dependence.<\/p>\n<p>The report finds that faster electrification could save \u20ac250 billion annually by 2040.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe technology is here, ready to deploy,\u201d said Laurent Bataille, executive vice president, Europe Operations at Schneider Electric.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cElectrification is vital \u2013 not only for achieving our climate ambitions, but for driving economic growth, energy independence and industrial competitiveness. Europe must break free from electrification stagnation urgently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The research highlights that Europe\u2019s residential energy costs average \u20ac0.27 per kWh, nearly double those in the US (\u20ac0.15) and over three times higher than in China (\u20ac0.08).
