{"id":6048,"date":"2026-01-21T16:44:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T16:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2026\/01\/21\/ports-warn-of-waste-tax-impact\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:20:43","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:20:43","slug":"ports-warn-of-waste-tax-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/regulation-policy-greenport\/ports-warn-of-waste-tax-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"Ports warn of waste tax impact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The British Ports Association (BPA) has cautioned ministers that plans to remove a landfill tax exemption from April 2027 risks making vital port development and infrastructure projects unviable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis change to landfill tax, which was buried alongside the Budget, seriously undermines the Government\u2019s growth plans,\u201d said Richard Ballantyne, chief executive, BPA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dMajor port and waterways projects are planned, but they will have to be delayed, scrapped or reviewed because of the additional financial burden.
