The cracker will convert ammonia into green hydrogen for injection into Germany’s national hydrogen core network, supporting the decarbonisation of energy intensive and hard to abate industrial sectors.

READ MORE: Germany’s green hydrogen production focus

READ MORE: Duisburg plans new ammonia terminal

Marco Arcelli, chief executive of Acwa, said the corridor builds on the company’s role as a first mover in green hydrogen. “This collaboration creates a reliable export pathway from Yanbu to Rostock, delivering scale for Europe’s hydrogen needs and strengthening energy security,” he said.

“By linking production, port infrastructure and network injection we are accelerating global decarbonisation.”

EnBW will act as offtaker and manage the commercial and logistical delivery of green ammonia to Rostock.
