Organised by Mercator, GreenPort Congress<\/a> is an annual conference and networking event for the global port community.<\/p>\n

The conference focuses on sustainable environmental practices, decarbonisation, and reducing the carbon footprint of port operations. It brings together decision-makers, environmental managers, and industry leaders to discuss the latest developments in sustainable port and terminal operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cPortsmouth is looking forward to hosting this year\u2019s GreenPort Congress, an important event in the industry calendar,\u201d said Mike Sellers, director, Portsmouth International Port.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe pride ourselves on being a leader in sustainable and innovative maritime operations, and take our role as a city-owned port seriously by making sure we work with the community and customers who share our values. The event in October will take place in our carbon neutral terminal, one of the UK\u2019s most sustainably advanced buildings, and delegates will be given an insight into the green technologies we have here at the port.\u201d <\/p>\n

Green ambition<\/strong><\/p>\n

The selection of Portsmouth International Port as host port and venue reflects its growing reputation as a leading example of environmental ambition in action.<\/p>\n

Owned by the people of Portsmouth, the port is actively reshaping its operations to reduce emissions and accelerate the transition to cleaner maritime activity.<\/p>\n

With bold plans to become one of the UK\u2019s first zero emission ports by 2050 and to achieve net zero port operations by 2035, Portsmouth International Port is positioning itself as a \u201cliving laboratory\u201d for new technologies and sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n

These ambitions are closely aligned with both Portsmouth City Council\u2019s climate change strategy and the UK Government\u2019s Maritime 2050 vision, ensuring local action contributes to national and international decarbonisation goals.<\/p>\n

The port is also committed to collaborative environmental progress, having signed the Portsmouth Green Partnership Charter, reinforcing its role as an active partner in driving air quality improvements and reducing the city\u2019s overall carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

As the sector faces increasing pressure to decarbonise while maintaining operational efficiency and global competitiveness, the 21st GreenPort Congress will provide a timely platform to share best practice, explore emerging technologies, and accelerate practical solutions for a more sustainable maritime future.<\/p>\n

As part of its deepening engagement with the Solent maritime cluster, GreenPort Congress organiser Mercator has joined Maritime Solent as a Strategic Partner and will also sponsor the 2026 Maritime Solent Summit, taking place on 15 April 2026 at Portsmouth International Port.<\/p>\n
