The coalition brings together organisations developing sustainable shipping and aviation energy systems, including renewable hydrogen and other zero-emission technologies, to advocate for policies that accelerate decarbonisation.<\/p>\n
By joining the alliance, PortXchange aims to ensure ports are involved in shaping policy, infrastructure planning and funding decisions from the outset rather than being expected to adapt after strategies have been set.<\/p>\n
The company argues that ports are fundamental to the success of the energy transition, serving as the point where alternative fuels are supplied, infrastructure is deployed and emissions reduction strategies are put into practice.<\/p>\n
\u201cPorts\u2019 potential to drive climate action has been largely overlooked,\u201d said Sjoerd de Jager, managing director and co-founder of PortXchange.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will not achieve the emissions reductions needed, at the pace required, until all the actors across the value chain collaborate. That is why PortXchange is joining the SASHA Coalition \u2013 to bring the port perspective into the conversation and help turn zero-emission ambition into action.\u201d<\/p>\n
PortXchange said environmental progress depends not only on developing cleaner fuels but also on ensuring ports have the operational readiness and infrastructure to support their adoption.<\/p>\n
Its EmissionInsider platform provides ports with detailed visibility of emissions generated by ships, trucks, rail operations and terminal activity, enabling users to identify emissions hotspots, prioritise reduction measures and make data-driven infrastructure investments.<\/p>\n
Sabrina Khan-Dighe, membership and advocacy officer at the SASHA Coalition, said ports were indispensable to achieving maritime decarbonisation. \u201cWe will only see shipping on track for net zero when all actors are working together across the sector, and ports\u2019 importance as a key to unlocking cross-sector decarbonisation cannot be overstated,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
