The new port will handle an extra 5m containers a year (Rotterdam, Europe\u2019s largest container port, currently handles 9.3m a year).<\/p>\n<p>The estimated cost of the new port is \u20ac1.3bn ($1.7bn) and it will also have a terminal for shipping natural gas and a 2.5 km long pier.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In late April this year, King Mohammed VI announced that yet another mega-port is planned in the Strait of Gibraltar.
