The offshore terminal will be linked to the mainland by pipelines 22.4 km long coming ashore at the town of Oxnard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BHP Billiton has announced plans to build a gas terminal off the coast of Los Angeles as a means of combating the states growing energy shortage. The so-called Cabrillo Port, which will cost $600m to build, will commence operations by 2009.
