APM says that the decision is in line with the port&#8217;s Master Plan to integrate container terminal operations at Kaohsiung.<\/p>\n<p>Martin Gaard Christiansen, chief executive of APM Terminals&#8217; Asia Pacific region said: &#8220;Market conditions have changed,&#8221; and added that the move was in line with &#8220;optimising our Global Terminal Network&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He continued to <i>Port Strategy<\/i>: &#8220;We believe that there will be growth again in our industry, but that growth rates will be slower than before, something that we refer to as the &#8216;new normal&#8217;.&#8221; He went on to add: &#8220;We are confident and relatively optimistic about the first half of 2010, but we remain cautious as we do not believe we are out of the woods yet\u2026 APM Terminals is not standing still.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To ensure the smooth transition, with no disruptions to service, the two companies will cooperate for three months, finally handing over on May 7, 2010.
