This lies close to the timber and peanut pellet manufacturing facilities and means a competitive link through to European biomass markets.

The investment of US$7m from the GPA and US$5m from Logistec will expand operations and deepen Berths 1 and 2 plus the Lanier Dock area to 36 feet at mean low water. The move will also raise capacity for a broad range of general and bulk cargo.

The facility’s new capacity will triple to one million tons annually and will create nearly 300 jobs in Georgia.
