{"id":8675,"date":"2012-11-26T20:06:00","date_gmt":"2012-11-26T20:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2012\/11\/26\/bill-killed-by-one-vote\/"},"modified":"2012-11-26T20:06:00","modified_gmt":"2012-11-26T20:06:00","slug":"bill-killed-by-one-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/oceania\/bill-killed-by-one-vote\/","title":{"rendered":"Bill killed by one vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Private Member\u2019s Bill, which aimed to bring the country\u2019s publicly-owned ports under the Official Information Act and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act, was voted down 61-60 by a union of National, Act and United Future.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Fenton says she is \u201cgobsmacked\u201d the Government does not accept ratepayers should have access to information about the management and functioning of ports they own.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks to National and its mates, ports will continue to be specifically excluded from official information requests &#8211; so ratepayers who own port companies, and those who use them, will continue to have no right to request information about how they are run,\u201d says Ms Fenton.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does the National Government have to hide?
