Furthermore, it is my view that security systems have been sold and installed in ports not to address the specific requirements of the terminal operators, but rather to help the sales person achieve their own targets.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In some cases, they have simply taken advantage of a customer&#8217;s lack of knowledge to sell them product they don&#8217;t necessarily need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To make matters worse, some employees asked to work with this equipment are either not trained at all or simply not well enough trained to make optimum use of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can easily eliminate these situations just by improving a port operator&#8217;s knowledge base,\u201d says Mr van Unnik.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the IT technology available today, integrating security systems is not as difficult as it may seem even where systems compete, security expert Henk van Unnik claims.
