Currently, its 14 cranes are 272ft tall and can lift up to almost 135ft. With this approval, it will raise the cranes by approximately 32ft to 304ft and extend each boom by around 10ft to 376ft.<\/p>\n<p>Phillip Sanfield, spokesperson for POLA, told <i>Port Strategy<\/i>: \u201cRaising the cranes and extending the boom allows our terminal operators to service the larger vessels that are coming into the port faster and more efficiently, without the need to wait for low tide or add additional ballast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to these 14 cranes that APMT is going to do, other port tenants have raised 10 other cranes throughout the port,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Project construction is expected to begin later this year and be completed by 2016.
