Boxreload helps trucking companies to combine loads with the aim of replacing two journeys by two trucks, each with an empty leg, to just one return journey (backload) with a single truck, a \u2018boxreload\u2019.<\/p>\n
Andy Barker, general manager, Boxreload, said: \u201cThe beauty of Boxreload is that it allows both trucking companies to protect revenues and cut costs. The advantage increases the more trucking companies get involved as more and more opportunities to reduce costs can be identified.\u201d<\/p>\n
But it\u2019s not just about reducing cost. He added: \u201cBoxreload allows better utilisation of equipment, trucks and drivers, reduces road miles, minimises the environmental impact of transport and can help cut congestion.\u201d<\/p>\n
Boxreload is supported by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment and co-financed by the European Union\u2019s Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) programme, and is being launched in the Benelux area.<\/p>\n
The concept has already been proven in a pilot with several Rotterdam-based trucking companies and now it is being launched with 12 companies. During the pilot, Boxreload was able to cut costs and carbon emissions on 5,000 additional reloads in the first year.<\/p>\n
Because it\u2019s a neutral platform which any trucking company can join, the secure structure ensures that each trucking company\u2019s sensitive customer information is kept private. Users can only cooperate with other trucking companies if they are connected as \u2018friends\u2019 on the Boxreload system.<\/p>\n
The tool has been developed by the PARIS Optimal Transport Planning division of Hutchison Ports and developed with the support of Erasmus University of Rotterdam.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
