In its newly launched 2014 annual report, Amsterdam’s board of directors said: \u201cWe must prepare for the consequences of the energy mix transition that lies ahead. Although these goods flows are not expected to diminish before 2030, we will prepare for this in the coming years by focusing on transition and new markets as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
This will include diversifying its cargo offering entering into markets such as biomass and the import of diesel and kerosene.<\/p>\n
In 2015, the port will focus on its Vision 2030 concept which it developed with port stakeholders. The idea is to perform analysis of current economic and social developments, with a focus on the port sector.<\/p>\n
Analysis will include energy transition, raw materials shortages, the emergence of the circular economy, continued upscaling in shipping, the return of manufacturing activities to Europe and innovations such as 3D printing.<\/p>\n
Amsterdam sees itself as more than just a transhipment hub going forward. Its function as an international hub will become the backbone of the port where raw materials, goods, waste streams, data, ideas intersect and new technologies are tested.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
