{"id":9575,"date":"2011-10-12T12:07:00","date_gmt":"2011-10-12T11:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2011\/10\/12\/boost-for-green-port-solutions-in-singapore\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:52:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T13:52:09","slug":"boost-for-green-port-solutions-in-singapore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/asia-greenport\/boost-for-green-port-solutions-in-singapore\/","title":{"rendered":"Boost for green port solutions in Singapore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Green Port and Productivity Solutions (GPPS) research and development (R&amp;D) Programme launched today (12 October), is a product of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by JP CEO Matthew Chan and MPA&#8217;s Chief Executive Lam Yi Young.<\/p>\n<p>The GPPS will see both organisations commit S$6 million each over the next five years to embark on green technology and productivity projects in the port.<\/p>\n<p>JP\u2019s CEO Matthew Chan said, \u201cWe&#8217;ve already completed a study on our carbon footprint. Now we will develop and implement major green projects with MPA&#8217;s funding support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The money will go towards conducting research into and test-bed green technologies to reduce the port\u2019s carbon footprint and improve productivity for its existing and future terminals.<\/p>\n<p>MPA and JP were two of the 12 organisations who signed up to the Maritime Singapore Green Initiative in April this year, a pledge towards cleaner and greener shipping in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>The Maritime Singapore Green Initiative is a S$100 million initiative comprising of three programmes: Green Ship Programme, Green Port Programme and Green Technology Programme.
