{"id":989,"date":"2020-04-20T09:07:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-20T08:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/portstrategy.nfdtesting.uk\/greenport\/2020\/04\/20\/backing-for-free-trade-port-project\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T13:48:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T12:48:18","slug":"backing-for-free-trade-port-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.portstrategy.com\/greenport\/news\/asia\/backing-for-free-trade-port-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Backing for free trade port project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>China has pledged to expedite the construction of a free trade port in south China&#8217;s Hainan Province, as part of efforts to promote comprehensive reform and opening-up of the island, said an official with the Ministry of Commerce (MOC).<\/p>\n<p>Hainan has achieved notable achievements and reported progress in all tasks since it was established as a pilot free trade zone (FTZ) in a plan in 2018, said MOC official Tang Wenhong, according to Xinhua, China&#8217;s official press agency.<\/p>\n<p>Explorations to liberalise and facilitate trade and investment, especially those closely related to the building of the free trade port, have seen fruitful results, and over 97% of the pilot tasks outlined in the 2018 plan were implemented, Mr Tang said.<\/p>\n<p>The island has been much more open to the world thanks to the constructions of the FTZ.
