Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Operations Department based at the Port of Heysham.

Role Purpose: To work within a team to carry out operations efficiently, effectively and in a safe manner. To ensure the on-time delivery of planned activity, continuous flow of productivity and high customer satisfaction levels, whilst supervising a team of Terminal Operatives.

This role will include the following responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of Terminal Operatives ensuring the completion of all operational duties and team members comply with company policies and procedures at all times
- Berthing and mooring of vessels, ensuring turnaround times are managed effectively. Discharging and loading of all vessels and cargo types as required
- Supervise vessel operations and assist customers with vessel pre planning, to ensure effective operations
- Assist Terminal Manager in creating and maintaining a suitable and safe terminal traffic plan. Marshall accompanied traffic and movement of unaccompanied traffic
- Ensure terminal housekeeping cleaning duties are performed to ensure, company machinery and the working areas are kept tidy and clean
- Ensure effective and efficient labour distribution is achieved to provide highest level of service to customers

Required Experience

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience of working within a Port environment and/or vessel discharge, with experience of RoRo operations
- Previous experience in a supervisory position is desired, ideally gained within an operations environment
- Able to communicate effectively working as part of a team, capable of working under pressure in a fast moving, operational environment
- Able to demonstrate commitment to maintaining operational Health and Safety standards, as well as an understanding of permit to work systems and accident reporting
- A positive attitude towards flexible working and the necessity to work hours as per operational requirements
- Proven experience of multi-tasking across numerous business areas, ensuring tight turnarounds are met
- Competent IT skills, confident in using Microsoft packages
