VTS for Singapore's strait and narrow

Industry Database

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has chosen Kongsberg Norcontrol as the supplier of its 24 hour Vessel Traffic Information Service (VTIS).

Under a project valued at around ¢12.5m ($18.4m), Kongsberg's C-Scope VTIS will supply AIS, CCTV, RDF and GMDSS with multiple interfaces to enable interoperability.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore had a need for a 24 hour VTIS that would give clear and unambiguous information for the multitude of craft transiting the very narrow (1.5nm) Singapore Strait.

The entire system will be set up at a new control centre in Changi.
