Good weighing information constitutes a vital component of operators’ and companies’ competitive advantage due to increasing requirements for traceability, efficiency and ecological responsibility, according to Tamtron chief executive Mikko Keskinen.

The company said in a release that in an era of digitalisation, weighing and weighing information management is now a more relevant theme than ever before, as well as claiming that weighing information management is the way to increase business operations.

“Growing demands for efficiency, traceability and ecological responsibility of companies and operators make accurate, available, easily manageable and reportable weighing information an essential part of their competitive advantage,” Mr Keskinen explained.

“The easier, more reliable and more automatic the collection and management of the information is, the smoother is everyday business.”

Tamtron — which provides weighing solutions and is headquartered in Finland — will be exhibiting scales that adhere to the requirements of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS Convention) at TOC Europe for 2018.

The container supply chain and dry bulk event, taking place in Rotterdam from June 12 to 14, will see Tamtron display the Tamtron Power Container Stacker Scale, the Tamtron Power Material Handler Scale, the Tamtron Scalex Truck Scale and the Tamtron Power Straddle Carrier Scale.

“With accurate, robust and approved scales for container stackers, straddle carriers, material handlers and truck scales, containers can be weighed according to the SOLAS regulations during normal operations, without interrupting or slowing down the workflow at seaports or in the container depots,” Tamtron said.

The Tamtron information management system delivers weighing information wirelessly from the scales to business use.

With a Tamtron scale, information transfers in real-time to a weighing information management cloud service or through integration into a terminal operating system, a warehouse management system, an enterprise resource planning system or other systems. Bi-directional data-communication allows for the combination of container ID  and Verified Gross Mass.

According to the company, quick installation, retrofitting without impact on any of a vehicle’s vital components and limited maintenance needs ensure minimum costs across the lifespan of their systems, and the organisation offers response services through a local partner network so downtime for the equipment need not be a concern.

“Tamtron’s professional weighing equipment with solid connectivity and data management help operators to meet the demands for transparency, traceability and ever-growing reporting liabilities,” said Eero Hiltunen, Tamtron’s key account manager.

Tamtron can be found at TOC Europe 2018, which is taking place at Rotterdam Ahoy from June 12 to 14, at stand F14.
