'Port Strategy' contributor Felicity Landon won the Innovation Journalist of the Year accolade at the Seahorse Journalist Awards.

Ms Landon scooped the award for a feature on Blockchain in Port Strategy, while another contributor, Stevie Knight, was shortlisted for the same award for another Port Strategy feature.

“It is a real honour to receive a Seahorse Award," said Ms Landon. "But it isn’t just for me – it’s for the whole team at Port Strategy, a magazine which steers away from ‘ordinary’ reporting to focus in on a wide variety of topics (such as blockchain) that are challenging today’s ports industry. I am lucky to write for the magazine.

“This also seems a good moment to say thank you to the many remarkable (and patient) people in our industry who give up their time to help us journalists with our enquiries!  Their willingness to discuss and explain complex issues to journalists, often at very short notice, is so much appreciated.”

The article, entitled ‘The digital handover’, considered how blockchain technology could turn accepted supply chain practice on its head. As well as looking at the opportunities, such as eliminating fraud, authenticating certificates, enhancing process flows, sharing data for collaborative planning and providing full traceability of products, the article reported on industry concerns, including security questions, software issues and the ‘what could possibly go wrong?’ attitude.

Port Strategy editor Carly Fields was shortlisted for Environmental Journalist of the Year, and also Journalist of the Year, alongside Iain MacIntyre.

The annual awards are held in London by The Seahorse Club, a networking group for public relations, marketing, advertising and journalism professionals working within the freight transport, shipping and logistics sectors.
