DP World presents its vision for Sokhna World Zone
DP World has presented its vision for its Sokhna World Zone project which envisions a sustainable industrial area to attract foreign investment complete with a range of investment incentives.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO, DP World, said the project will create a regional trade hub for business with access to Egypt and the wider region.
“Our partnership with the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority and the Egyptian government will become a foundation of the Egyptian economy for decades to come,” he said.
“It will transform the Suez Canal and establish a trade and business hub, changing the lives of thousands and those of future generations.”
He pointed to DP World’s Jafza project as an example of how the project will be executed. Jafza now has over 7300 companies on site all within close proximity to Jebel Ali Port. It’s a business model DP World is applying in other locations around the world.
When completed, the Sokhna World Zone project will be 1.5 times bigger than Jafza and will cover 95 square kilometres providing an estimated 400,000 jobs.
It will include industrial and residential areas coupled with the development of DP World’s operations at Sokhna Port, increasing its capacity and linking it to the industrial zone.
A residential zone accommodating 500,000 people will span 20 square kilometres and will include coastal villas, residential units, shopping and administrative centres, entertainment facilities, mosques, schools, hospitals, clubs and green spaces.
