Emissions win for Bremen ports

According to port operator bremenports, energy efficiency measures, the consistent use of renewable power and photovoltaic systems were responsible for the decline.

In some instances, measured values for air pollutants in and around the ports of Bremen and Bremerhaven were considerably lower than prescribed European limits.

“This new report provides us with comprehensive data on the environmental impact caused by port operations,” said Robert Howe, bremenports managing director. “It also substantiates the efforts we are making to ensure that we continue to live up to our greenports claim in future.”

The greenports programme offers information about the status and objectives of the ports’ activities within the areas of their economic, ecological and social influence.
