Eco cruise ship makes UK debut

The Port of Southampton hosted MSC Grandiosa, which features systems that help reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 80% through advance emissions control technology. MSC is committing to strong environmental goals over the coming years and the operating setup of the MSC Grandiosa marks a significant step towards zero-emissions operations.

ABP’s regional director for Southampton, Alastair Welch, said: “We are proud to welcome MSC Grandiosa to the port. Having hosted the naming ceremony for MSC Bellissima earlier in the year, it is great to have the team back for another significant event in the launch of their latest vessel.

“We welcome the environmental technologies which support our own commitments in being a leading port for sustainable operations.”

Southampton is the first call on maiden cruise of the MSC Grandiosa.
