New quay cranes

The agreement between Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam (ECT) and Sany Europe, part of Sany Heavy Industries of Changsha in China, also includes an option for four more.

The new cranes are part of an extensive investment programme in the ECT Delta terminal – the first automated terminal in the world – which includes hybrid automated guided vehicles, hybrid straddle carriers and multi-trailer tractors.

ECT is strengthening its role as one of the most important container terminals in Europe, both with its investment programme and an extensive recruitment drive which has just seen more than 150 employees newly hired.

This will be the first time Sany Heavy Industries has worked with ECT, having already supplied cranes for other terminals in the Hutchison Ports group. The cranes will be built in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China and are fully remote controlled with an outreach of more than 25 container rows.
