Klaipeda’s ambitious future investment project is the construction of a deepwater outer harbour, to meet growth in volumes and also handle larger vessels. The new outer port could have six terminals – one each for oil, dry bulks, general cargo and LNG, and two for containers. A feasibility study will be carried out in 2009.
