KCT expanding to 2mTEU capacity

Work to expand Khorfakkan Container Terminal and raise its potential throughput to over two million TEUs per year is underway. Completion of the multi-million dollar programme is scheduled for the end of 2005. The project, which will increase KCTs present 1,060 metres of quay front by a further 400 metres by developing the obverse side of the current facility, will be able to handle container vessels over 8,000 TEUs capacity – the biggest currently envisaged by the major international shipping lines.
