Auckland geared for growth
Ports of Auckland took delivery of three new ZPMC cranes in December as part of its NZ$100m investment programme to handle container throughput currently doubling every 10 years.
Each 1,150 tonne and 103-metrehigh crane has booms reaching 18 to 20 containers-wide across deck and can handle ships of between 4,500 and 6,000 teu.The Shanghai-built cranes will also provide improved twin-lifting capacity and have been fitted with a remotely-accessible fibre optic communications system.
