Rotterdam terminal powers up on Green

A power distribution network on APMs Rotterdam container terminal has just switched over to a wind-generated electricity plant. This will mean the terminal reduces its CO2 emissions by 45% per year, says the company.

The electricity is sourced from two wind farms in the Netherlands: Hagenwind in Aalten and De Landtong in Rotterdam. These will power 14 gantry shore cranes on the terminal.

At the same time APM Terminals announced that the company aims to reduce its global CO2 emission by 15% per teu within three years.
