In 2007, the Eurogate group handled a combined 13.87m teu, which was 10.6% higher than the previous year. Bremerhaven and Hamburg saw traffic rise by 12% to 7.8m teu; Contship Italia reported an 8.8% hike to 5.82m teu.

The plug was introduced on January 23 and was, in part, the result of transport strikes earlier this year and higher than normal volumes passing through the terminal. A customs go-slow and unseasonal high winds further exacerbated the problems.
