The UK’s Sea & Water forum has published its 2005 Water Freight Review. The book gives an account of the main trends and characteristics of inland, coastal and shortsea shipping stressing the challenges the industry faces. Of major concern is the competitive relationship with other freight transport modes and the problems of infrastructure. Up-to-date statistical information is graphically displayed and accompanied by useful commentary. The ports coverage makes up a good part of the publication being split between shortsea and coastal traffic through the UK’s ports. The review is available from www. seaandwater. org
