GRAVESEND CREWS IMPLEMENT CHANGE

As part of its move to 3-person crewing – agreed as part of a National Framework Agreement with the Transport & General Workers Union (TGWU) – Adsteam UKs Gravesend crews have now agreed to implement changes in working systems and procedures. Commenting on his members decision to implement the agreed changes, the TGWUs, Graham Murfet said: ” This will meet the 21st century challenges for the future of towage on the Thames for both the customers and Gravesend tugmen.”

Adsteam ceo Europe, Stephen Eastwood added:

“This has been a complex exercise, involving not only the movement towards 3-person crewing and reduction in numbers of staff at Gravesend, but also significant changes to traditional working patterns.

The TGWU has been fully involved at every stage in the process and we have worked closely together on the detailed final agreement.

This now allows our Thames operation to move forward into the future with confidence.”
