The port of Santos needs investment of $5bn to prevent capacity restraints stifling economic growth, a recent study has concluded.

Improvements are needed in terminals, land access, dredging and basic port infrastructure.

The government organisation involved looked at all 37 Brazilian ports and based its conclusions on aims set out in the National Transport Logistics Plan as it relates to the Accelerated Growth Programme (PAC) and on interviews with port users.
