Valparaiso awaiting legal instruction
Germá n Correa, president of Valparaiso Port Company (EPV), said that he is awaiting resolution of pending injunctions before being able to issue a tender in respect of Berth 2.
Two local groups, Von Appen and Claro, have been told to limit their participation in any tender to help promote competition.
The former already operates the port’s Terminal Pacifico Sur, while the latter owns shipping line CSAV, which already accounts for around 25% of total traffic.
According to Mr Correa, this new expansion area will boost volumes from 12m tonnes per year to 21m tonnes.
