Colombia will receive $62m over the next 30 years from private-sector companies operating seven river port concessions and 24 coastal port concessions along the Magdalena River.
This is navigable over a distance of 730 kilometres and carried 4.4m tonnes of traffic in 2008.
A further 6.3m tonnes were also handled by ports on the last 27 kilometres of the Barraquilla River.
