Long journey to eco-efficiency says APM

Aggressive measures to improve fuel economy and introduce environmentally sustainable operating practices have led to APM Terminals’ lowering its CO2 emissions to 17.6 kg per teu, a reduction of 8% from 2008.

Speaking at the GreenPort 2010 International Ports and Environment Conference on the topic of “Carbon Footprinting for Container Terminals”, APM Terminals senior director of sustainability, Henrik Kristensen emphasised that while promising initial progress has been made, a “long journey” lies ahead before “eco-efficiency” can be realised for container terminals.
