Gothenburg operators start up, but who are they?

The implementation of the Port of Gothenburg’s new structure has reached a significant milestone with the beginning of operations for a number of newly formed terminal operators within the port.

Port Strategy: The identities of the managers of Gothenburg's three new terminals is still under wraps

In 2008, Gothenburg City Council approved proposals to carve up the Port of Gothenburg between a Port Authority and three terminal companies run by external operators. These companies have now been established and are operating independently within the port.

While the Port of Gothenburg is currently unable to divulge which operator will manage the three terminals, it can confirm they will lease the quays and terminals from the Port Authority who will own the land and infrastructure and control the port and its future development.

The port plans to improve infrastructure in an effort to generate greater capacity intended ultimately to strengthen it goods hub and place the port at the forefront of European port efficiency.
