Remembering ICTSI’s Andy Andrews
April 13, 2010 saw the passing of one of the terminal operating industry’s memorable characters, Francis Meredith Andrews, better known as Andy Andrews to his many friends and colleagues.
After a short illness Andy passed away quietly in the Cromwell hospital in London.
For the latter years of his working life Andy had worked with International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI), first holding the position of chief executive of ICTSI’s then Damman terminal In Saudi Arabia, moving to take up the post of senior vice president and general manager at ICTSI’s flagship Manila container terminal.
Subsequently, he moved to London where he undertook a senior management role in conjunction with ICTSI’s Poland, Syria and Georgia terminals as well as a business development role.
Andy will be remembered by those that knew him for his sense of humour and as one colleague puts it “for being a true gentleman”. He loved people, always made time for them, even when on the “opposite side of the fence”.
