Peel Ports boss ‘has left with immediate effect’

The announcement, signed by Peel Ports chairman Tom Allison, says Peel now intends to launch an external search to recruit a chief executive. Mark Whitworth, former chief executive of Peel Airports, has been appointed interim chief executive at Peel Ports. He lost his job last week after Peel Group sold a 65% share in Peel Airports to Vancouver Airport Services, being replaced as Peel Airports boss by Craig Richmond, who was previously running Nassau airport for VAS.

Stephen Baxter, a former BAA Airports chief operations officer, was appointed Peel Ports chief executive, based at Liverpool, in 2008. Peel Ports, the UK’s second largest ports group, includes Clydeport, Liverpool and the Manchester Ship Canal and Medway Ports, as well as container terminal operations in Ireland.
