Russia to up port investment

The head of the Investment and Development Committee of the Association of Commercial Sea Ports has said that Russia will invest $42m, compared with $50m last year, in improving port infrastructure.

The private sector, for its part, will considerably increase its own investment, which will be as much as 5.2 times that provided by the state.

In total, in 2010-2015, the central government will make available $513m for port development and private companies will provide a further $2.85bn. By 2015, up to $27bn may well have been spent on upgrading ports.
